March 22 — The Heidelberg police department issued eight citations last week for driving under the influence, four on Saturday alone, police chief Vernon Barkley told borough council last night.
“With all the publicity, it’s amazing there are still so many DUIs,” he said. “Hopefully, we saved some lives.”
He credited a grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board with enabling the borough to put more officers on patrol to look for alcohol-related driving violations.
